End of line Testing Systems

End of line testing systems are an important part of the manufacturing process, ensuring that all products have met the predetermined quality standards.

Our systems check for flaws and can detect build issues for quality assurance.

Our systems are typically used for automotive, sub assemblies, end of line (EOL) production, and wherever QA (Quality Assurance) is needed...

Our electrical test systems are capable of assisting the operator, recording to a database, we use several systems from the basic micro controller systems, PLCs, and lab test equipment depending on the clients needs. We are familiar with many automotive electrical drawings and have a good understanding of methods to best test.

Below we have outlined some of the testing methods that we use, there is far more information on EOL testing, if you contact us I am sure we can help even if you have an exsisting system:

  • Digital input
    • Typically a digital input is used to identify a switch has been made, in some situations it is possible to test bulbs as part of a current path

  • Digital output
    • Digital outputs are generally used to turn on a function or equipment to be tested, quite often this voltage is monitored and recorded as part of the testing

    • Digital outputs can also include PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) this can be used to speed control devices or change brightness of LEDs

    • Depending on the system chosen it is possible to measure current on the output.

  • Analogue input
    • Analogue inputs are typically chosen when a device has a non digital output, this could be a voltage that varies, a distance measuring or any other reading where a digital capture isn't sufficient.

  • Analogue output
    • Analogue outputs are typically used when a voltage either variable or used on a scale needs to be used

  • Resistance measurement
    • Some components and devices can be tricky to test of have a resistance in line, often with automotive components where parts are Quality Assured and only added value / connections are being checked this can be a simple way of checking assembly

  • Capacitance measurement
    • As above, capacitance measurement has a place for measuring capacitance however we find that typically we use capacitance to check devices that are dumb but difficult to test have been connected correctly

  • RS232 / 485
    • Not used quite as much as it used to be however our World still heavily involves RS232 coms and if needed we can do data captures, serial prints or control equipment

  • CAN bus and vehicle communications
    • Typically used for vehicle communications but it doesn't have to be, we have built and operated systems where a bus is used between 2 devices, we've reverse engineers a bus and worked out check sums however typically this information is provided and we typically use CAN to obtain serial numbers, builds and control devices

Further testing can be added through the below methods:

  • Vision
    • We work closely with several vision system suppliers and each year their technology advances allowing us to push the boundaries of what vision based system can do, check out our vision systems

  • Sound
    • Sound is always tricky to sample within a manufacturing environment however with the right enclosures and microphones it is possible to record and sample both sound and vibration

  • Heat
    • With advances is heat detecting cameras it is possible to have equipment on the line monitoring for a rise in temperature indicated a fault or issue prior to the system leaving the assembly

  • Motion and force control
    • Transducers, force measuring devices can be mounted to hardware to ensure that the feel and operation of the equipment under test has been correctly built, sometimes it is possible to see an issue based on the current of a motor but for tactile movement or even pressure measuring devices the only way to is sample the force

  • Leak decay
    • Any product designed to seal fluids can require leak testing, this can be part of a full EOL test system or a stand alone install.

All test equipment can be coupled up with jigs and fixtures, rugged connector, robots which are generally cobots, and either custom or existing machinery.

Test systems can be made portable or even as movement aids to allow you to drive the equipment or perform simple tests on the line with hand held testers / movement aids
